My Life, My China” is a series of interviews with 10 Chinese journalists who are also Communist Party members talking about their views on the country and its major issues. The fuel for Luo Jun’s Xinhua News Agency editorials is her rage at injustice in all its forms – from official corruption in China to Western double standards. Luo, who manages Xinhua’s social media accounts after two years in London as a political correspondent for the agency, says she has seen official government cars parked outside of entertainment facilities in broad daylight and is aware of cases where money has bought power. For her, the person who embodies the true values of the Communist Party of China (CPC) is her grandfather, a CPC member and toy company manager who cared for others but was always strict with himself. Luo is also very concerned about global terrorism. She condemns the Western-centric view held by mainstream media that refused to acknowledge a 2014 mass knife attack in a train station in Yunnan as an act of terror. “I don’t want that kind of ‘free media;’ I want our media to be responsible and accountable. That’s why I became a journalist for Xinhua,” she said. “My Life, My China” was jointly produced by China Institute, Fudan University and Guan Video. The advertisement went up this Monday, attracting protests from Tibetan activists and concerns from passersby. Times Square New York—a popular tourist destination and one of the most desirable locations in the world for advertising. The most expensive advertisements sell for up to 400-thousand dollars a month. And here is the latest addition to Times Square's famous panorama of advertising. The billboard at the top of this building is now owned by Xinhua—the Chinese state-run media company often referred to as the mouthpiece of the Chinese Communist Party. The 40 by 60 foot LED screen is replacing an HSBC ad, which had been there for ten years. The president of Sherwood Outdoor, the company that manages the signs, told the New York Times that Xinhua plans to be there "In excess of six years." And it isn't just a sign, Xinhua also opened offices in the square last year. Not all New Yorkers saw Xinhua's screen as just another advertisement. Students for a Free Tibet gather under the new billboard to tell New Yorkers just how they feel. [Tenzin Dolkar, U.S.A. Grassroots Director, Free Tibet]: "We are here protesting China's largest censorship propaganda agency, the Xinhua news agency, and the fact that China has bought this space here in the most high profile advertisement location in all of America, just kind of clearly shows that China wants to present itself as an open, and democratic society, and it's just so far from the truth. And the fact that we're here is because we want to defend free speech in New York City and the values that the Americans cherish." Tourists passing by the protest share their views of what Times Square stands for. [José Medina Cepeda, Ecuadorian Tourist]: "It's a space of freedom where the youth can speak to the world, to New York, to the United States, to the world." Foreign visitors also share their views of the Chinese regime's sate-run media. [Anil Agrawal, Indian Businessman]: "There is a lot of censorship in China. People not are allowed to speak about Tibet and maybe even Taiwan and things like that and even many things within their own country. Yes, I know about it. And well I think it's not fair, as of today, that these things should be kept like that. It's a democratic world today and people should be allowed to say and live peacefully, freely." For Tenzin Dolkar the Xinhua sign strikes a personal chord. [Tenzin Dolkar, U.S.A. Grassroots Director]: "As a Tibetan I know how much lies that Xinhua spreads inside Tibet and in China and Xinhua is a state run propaganda, you know, pro-censorship agency, and it should just not be here in New York City." Xinhua's new board is part of the Chinese regime's expansion into Western media markets and will potentially be seen by one-and-a-half million people per day. Holly Kellum, NTD News, New York

The following Media Advisory is provided by Students for a Free Tibet: Media Advisory: Tibetans, New Yorkers to Protest China's State-Run Media Ad in Times Square CHINA'S "CENSORSHIP AGENCY" NOT WELCOME IN THE BIG APPLE New York -- Tibetans and their supporters will gather in Times Square this morning from 9:00am -- 11:00am to protest the unveiling of a 60 by 40 foot advertisement for Xinhua, China's state-run media agency. Xinhua is the Chinese Communist Party's official propaganda mouthpiece and is reviled by Tibetans, Uyghurs, Chinese dissidents and all who reject Beijing's totalitarian control over information. "By purchasing one of the most expensive and high profile advertising locations in America, the Chinese government is attempting to convince the world that it is open and democratic when nothing could be further from the truth," said Tenzin Dorjee, Executive Director of Students for a Free Tibet. "Xinhua is China's main censorship agency. It is anti-free speech, anti-democracy, anti-freedom and stands against everything Americans value and cherish. But in this information age, Xinhua's attempt to whitewash China's repression in Tibet, East Turkestan, Southern Mongolia, and in China itself, is doomed to fail." WHAT: Protest for freedom and against China's media censorship WHEN: Monday, August 1st, 2011 from 9:00-11:00am WHERE: Times Square (7th Ave and 46th Street)

A Japanese hotel chain named APA has sparked great anger on social media recently for allegedly placing books in its rooms, which denied that the Nanjing Massacre and the forced recruitment of "comfort women" ever happened. In response to the incident, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying on Tuesday urged the Japanese government to ensure that Japanese people are exposed to authoritative versions of history. Despite the protest, the APA hotel chain has refused to withdraw the books which distorted history from the guest rooms.

INDIA CHINA are Ready for a BATTLE but the World Countries are AFRAID . Bilateral ties between India China on the Dhokalam Tri Junction Border Issue . The stand off or the face-off issue in the Sikkim Sector for 2 month long halt . India-China war will hit most nations Chinese media In the first official meeting between top Indian and Chinese officials since the Doklam stand-off became public, national security adviser (NSA) Ajit Doval met state councillor Yang Jiechi here on Thursday, offering the possibility of serious diplomatic efforts to de-escalate the confrontation. Yang, who as China's state councillor overseeing foreign affairs occupies a powerful and influential position in the state council, is a nominee in the India-China special representative level dialogue with NSA Doval. Indications of how the bilateral meeting went on Thursday could be gleaned by the commentary released by China's official Xinhua news agency which sent out a conciliatory signal just before Doval is expected to meet Chinese president Xi Jinping on Friday. The news agency spoke of the need to enhance mutual trust between the two countries because they are “not born rivals“. The comments released by the official Xinhua news agency made a strong plea to avoid the possibility of a war. “Most economies, including those in the West, will find themselves negatively affected by an India-China war in a globalised and intertwined world today,“ it said. In Delhi, the Indian government reminded China of the agreements on peace and tranquility that go back to 1993. Yang also held separate meetings with security officials of three other countries on the sidelines of a security dialogue of BRICS nations. He discussed issues con cerning bilateral relations, international and regional issues and multilateral affairs with the visiting security officials, the official Xinhua news agency said. The remarks are a contrast to the hectoring tone in the comments published in publications like Global Times that are seen to reflect the views of the government. China's official spokespersons have accused India of trespassing into Chinese territory , ignoring India's protests that the face-off near the Sikkim-Tibet-Bhutan trijunction has been caused by unilateral attempts by China to alter the ground position. There are signs that the two neighbours might be able to scale down tensions that have spiked following China's bid to build a road through a plateau in Bhutanese territory . This is the first time in weeks that the official media ran a commentary without de manding withdrawal of Indian troops from the disputed Doklam region. China has so far been insisting that troop withdrawal is a pre-condition to a “meaningful dialogue“. “The recent border issue between the two countries shows a lack of strategic trust on the Indian side,“ Xinhua said. It is not China but a set of problems common to all developing countries like corruption, a lack of quality education and healthcare that is holding back India. “India must understand that China wishes what's good for the Indian people and would love to see a strong India standing shoulder by shoulder with China,“ Xinhua, which reflects the government's thinking said, giving an emotional touch to the vexed relationship. “Instead of being rivals, India and China have much more common ground, common interests and common aspirations. Both as developing countries, the two need to work together on important issues like fighting climate change, protectionism and the financial privileges of Washington,“ Xinhua said. Doval is in Beijing to attend a dialogue of BRICS nations. “Hopefully , wisdom will guide the two countries to common prosperity ,“ it said, adding that “Both China and India need to enhance communication and nurture trust between them... the two are not born rivals and that harboring ill will against each other is dangerous,“ it added. Tianjin, China - A series of huge explosions shook the northern Chinese city of Tianjin late Wednesday, killing at least 44 people and injuring hundreds more, according to officials and state media. Xinhua reported Thursday that 12 firefighters were among the dead and that dozens more remained unaccounted for in the aftermath of the blasts. The cause was not immediately clear. Liu Yue, a 25-year-old Tianjin resident, said she felt the first blast but didn't think too much of it. "The second explosion was so powerful that I felt the entire 16-floor-building was shaking," said Liu, who lives about 4 kilometers (2½ miles) from the site of the blasts. "I thought it was an earthquake! I was extremely scared. I was afraid my family was in danger." The shock waves were felt kilometers away, Xinhua reported, and some residents said windows and fish tanks had been shattered. The initial explosion erupted at a warehouse for a logistics company in an industrial area of the port city, according to Tianjin police. The company was identified as Tianjin Dongjiang Port Rui Hai International Logistics Co. Ltd. The state-run news agency Xinhua reported that an explosion tore through a warehouse storing "dangerous and chemical goods" in Binhai, an area of the city by the water. The firefighting division of the Chinese Public Security Ministry said firefighters were first called to the scene about a fire. An explosion went off after they arrived, it said. As smoke continued to billow into the sky from the site Thursday, local authorities suspended firefighting efforts at the scene because of a lack of information on the "dangerous goods" that were stored at the warehouse, Xinhua reported. The state-run China Earthquake Networks Center said in an official post on social media that two of the explosions had carried the force of small earthquakes. The first was measured at magnitude of 2.3, the second at 2.9, it said. As day broke Thursday, the extent of the damage was beginning to become clear. State media carried images of damaged buildings and parking lots full of rows of burned-out cars. Xinhua said that 44 people were killed and more than 500 were hospitalized, 66 of them for critical injuries. It had reported earlier that most of the injuries were from stones or broken glass. Mayoritas, hampir 50 persen, penduduk Jepang menolak.
